Tuscany is especially well-suited to cycling and it is a regional pastime. Chianti in particular, with its hills and low mountain range that separates Florence from Siena, lends itself to travelling by bike along trails of varying difficulty. These routes can be cycled on racing bikes, on hybrid bikes, and on mountain bikes, although the topography of the area lends itself to be traveled by mountain bike or good trekking bikes.
